This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad comes from a San Diego collection. It was a Van Nuys, California built automobile and has been in Southern California ever since. It has 74,400 miles on its odometer which is its original mileage.
This Nomad underwent a full Concours restoration in 2007 where the body was removed and stripped to bare metal. The body was pristine with no rust and no damage to speak of. It was repainted in lacquer in its original one-tone Larkspur Blue. All chrome was re-plated both inside and out. The interior has been completely restored to absolute better-than-original standards, making this a truly beautiful example of one of the most attractive interiors perhaps on any American automobile of its period.
This Nomad retains its original 283 V8 with Power-Pack 4 bbl. carburetor, and dual exhausts. All mechanicals were rebuilt as well. It has its original Power-Glide Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, unusual Radio Delete, period wsw tires and its original spinnerless hub-caps. The engine compartment is fully detailed and as the rest of the car in as-new condition.
The quality and the completeness of the restoration to completely original is readily apparent on inspection. The Nomad has been stored in a special air-chamber since its restoration, but has been driven sparingly and is ready to be enjoyed.
This is a very beautiful, enjoyable, smooth and responsive drivable Nomad that is undoubtedly better than when it was new.
