This Corvette racer started life as a brand new 1967 427-435HP Tri-power Coupe. It was converted immediately to an SCCA A/Production racer by owner Dr. Bill Green of California. Greg Pickett of Pickett Racing fame with his 1967 A/Sedan Camaro and Dr. Green with his new Corvette joined together to form the Pickett Racing Team. They raced in both SCCA National events including Trans Am and IMSA events through 1976. Greg Pickett went on to enjoy vast racing fame winning a number of championships in a variety of different cars. His most significant accomplishment was winning the last SCCA A/Production race at Sears Point in 1978. This was one of the few mid-year Corvette racers to be successful in competing against the newer race cars of the era in the 1970’s. In the 1975 Trans Am race at Brainerd Raceway, it qualified 5th in a field of Porsches, V-12 Jaguars, and Greenwood wide-bodied Corvettes. It ran up front during most of the race until it retired with a transmission failure. In 1976 it competed at the IMSA GTO race at Laguna Seca finishing 16th in GTO.
This Historic Corvette racer was restored back to its original 1967-1975 racing livery in 2002 when it was treated to a complete and comprehensive body-off restoration with no expense spared. It recently competed at the Portland Historics with HMSA, California Speedway with VARA,and the Phoenix international Speedway where it set the track record in the Big Bore race at 1.07.3.
In 2010 it was invited to race at the prestigious Rolex Monterey Historics at La Guna seca Raceway in California.
