Jack Morris played Major League Baseball for a remarkable 18 seasons, the majority with the Detroit Tigers. As a pitcher he was selected for the All-Star team on five occasions and pitched on four World Series championship teams. He was named 1991 World Series MVP and was the highest paid American League pitcher in four separate seasons. A remarkable career indeed.

Thirteen seasons in the Motor City exposed Jack Morris to the automotive culture and created a desire to build a distinctive and unique car that would use modern components but would be true to the traditions of the Detroit automotive industry. He selected a 1969 Ford Mustang and spent 3 ½ years building the car. Morris was a “hands-on” owner and was involved every step of the way. Over 6000 hours were spent completing the car to Jack’s exacting specifications.

The potent Mustang is powered by a 625 horsepower Roush prepared small block V-8 that runs on premium pump gas. It has an all aluminum drive train with handmade stainless headers and exhaust. The transmission is a Tremec 6-speed that is capable of handling 800 horsepower. It is coupled to a 9” Ford Detroit Locker rear end. The suspension is a Heltz front end and 4 link coil over in the rear. The brakes are Willwood 6 piston calipers all around. The wheels are BBS with Michelin 355 x 19 tires in the rear and 285 x 18 in front.

The ‘Morris’ Mustang is finished in PPG Mercedes Silver with a black interior. It is equipped with power steering and brakes, air-conditioning, five-point harness and a full roll cage. It also has sequential tail lights, custom bumpers, a trick license plate and the entire construction process is fully documented.

Jack Morris had a remarkable career with the Detroit Tigers winning 254 games with close to 2500 strikeouts and an earned run average of 3.9. The 1969 Ford Mustang that he built is equally remarkable and reflects the exacting standard that he achieved as a Detroit Tiger.
