With the introduction of the new AC Cobra in early 1962 a new era of sports car racing dominance on both the American and European continents began. Shelby American's expert group of Southern California engineers and hot-rodders take over and rule the racetracks from the early to mid-1960's culminating in the 1965 World Championship over arch-rival Ferrari.

CSX 2009 was delivered to Shelby American in August of 1962. In an agreement with the Ford Motor Company it was then sent to Holman and Moody to be prepped for the race circuit as a factory team car for Ford Motor Company. The goal of this was for the car make its mark in the world of FIA/SCCA racing. It exceeded expectation with numerous trips to the winners' circle with such drivers as Augie Pabst, Peter Jopp, Tom Payne, Gene Fisher and Dick Stockton at the wheel. This tough 289 Cobra has a historically significant racing career that figures prominently in this "Golden Era" of muscle car glory that is truly unparalleled.

After an illustrious racing career, CSX 2009 was purchased by its current owner and restored over a ten-year period into the beautiful car it is today. The vision for CSX 2009 was to continue racing on the Vintage Racing Car Circuit, be competitive on the Concours Circuit and at the same time have bragging rights to a fantastic racing history. CSX 2009 has been proven concourse winner at SAAC 13, SAAC 32, Newport Beach and is still quite the hot rod to boot. It has been featured in many magazines and books ranging from "Fabulous Mustangs", to "Hot Rods Mustangs", to Dave Friedman's "Shelby Cobra."
