To quote 'Muscle Car Classics Magazine' from 1969, "The L-88 Vette is the ultimate in hot rods with an engine that'll torque the whole car over if you don't hang on tight." Between 1967 and 1969 Chevrolet produced only 216 fire-breathing race ready L88s. With horsepower ratings around 520 the L88 stands alone at the top of all muscle cars. This L88 is 1 of only 17 L88s produced with factory automatic transmission, which puts it in the category of ultra rare. The automatic L88 was only available in 1969 and cost an additional $290.40 over the manual transmission. It is also optioned with the J56 special heavy-duty brakes, F41 special front and rear suspension, J50 power brakes, and N14 side-mounted exhaust. Only 20% of all L88s sport the desirable factory side exhaust. Dressed out in its original Lemans blue exterior and original black interior, it makes a striking impression.
Documentation includes owner history conducted by the Reisner Group, Inc, which states the original owner as being Mark Larson from East Islip, New York. The original tank sticker is still affixed to the original gas tank, which has been removed to verify authenticity. With the most knowledgeable L88 authorities in the world verifying the engine stamp, it truly is one of the rarest, most outstanding L88s in Corvette history. It is said that only 10% of L88s today retain their original engine stamping. We challenge any expert to view this L88 and not agree on its outstanding originality. Awards include Bloomington Gold, 3 NCRS Top Flight Awards, NCRS Performance Verification Award, and the very coveted NCRS Duntov Award in 2006.
