Bobby Isaac drove a Daytona sponsored by K&K Insurance to a world record closed-course speed record of 201.104 mph. At the Daytona race that year, Dodge Daytona’s swept the top four spots. At Bonneville, Isaac set an unlimited class speed record of 217 mph. And all of this performance was available at your friendly neighborhood Dodge dealer. This was truly the height of the performance mania. Sadly, 1969 would be the only year that the Dodge Daytona would be available, although Plymouth would try the same thing for 1970 with their Superbird. This car is equipped with a 375-horse power 440 cid overhead valve eight-cylinder engine, automatic console shift transmission and power disc brakes. Capable of 220 mph in racing trim, the Daytona was highly successful in NASCAR racing. It was very expensive to produce, and only 503 were manufactured. Cosmetics include white Daytona stripe with corresponding white interior and Magnum wheels. This is a true American muscle car classic. << return to results |
