The collector car frenzy was alive and well this year at Russo and Steele’s Sports and Muscle in the Desert Sale.
Sports Car Market

Original, Numbers Matching, 1971 Dodge Hemi Challenger RT Will Be Offered at Russo and Steele Scottsdale Event

This automobile is 1 of 58 4spd cars and one of less than 12 factory shaker cars produced

Scottsdale, AZ. (Nov 7, 2008) -- Russo and Steele’s 9th Annual Scottsdale auction event, January 14-18, 2009, will presents a range of the most luxurious and collectable European sports, American muscle, Hot rods and custom automobiles in Scottsdale, Arizona. One of the many superior automobiles planning to roar over the auction block is an all original, matching numbers 1971 Dodge Hemi Challenger RT. In late 1970, as muscle-car production began to vanish; Chrysler released one final handful of factory Hemi cars before finally pulling the plug. This handful of Dodges that were sold to the public in 1971 turned out to be a apart of the rarest and most coveted collector cars ever built; fewer than 400 Hemi cars in TOTAL left the factory in that year and of that only 72 of them were Hemi Challengers!

Although all Hemi 'Cudas came from the factory with a Shaker hood; a little known fact is that Hemi Challengers DID NOT come from the factory with Shaker hoods. The Shaker was an option on the Challenger and as a result very, very few were ever produced. In fact, out of the 72 Hemi Challengers produced in 1971, it is estimated that less than a dozen cars came from the factory with a Shaker hood.

This particular 1971 Hemi Challenger RT is 1 of 58 4spd cars and one of less than 12 factory shaker cars produced. It is a 3 owner car, with a nut and bolt, rotisserie resto completed on a 5800 original mile car; original, matching numbers motor and correct hemi 4spd tranny. Its fully documented history (by owner), fender tags, two original build sheets, factory warranty card and authenticated by Mopar guru Galen Govier makes this one of the most significant and desirable Hemi E-bodies ever produced.

This is truly a unique opportunity to own one of the most significant and desirable Hemi E-bodies ever produced.

In addition to this 1971 Dodge Hemi Challenger RT Russo and Steele Scottsdale has a range of additional highly elusive, legendary, and superb quality of collector automobiles scheduled to cross its auction block this January 14-18, 2009.
