Best of Show Winner and Certified Original Category One Auburn Salon Speedster Will be Sold at Russo and Steele's 10th Anniversary Monterey Event

Perhaps one of the most attractive, opulent and powerful examples of its type

Monterey, CA (Mar 31, 2010) -- Russo and Steele is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this August 12-14, 2010 in Monterey, California. The Monterey auction event will present a range of the most luxurious and collectable European sports, American muscle, hot rods and custom automobiles suitable to satisfy any automotive desires. Located at the epicenter of the historic, downtown Monterey, Russo and Steele at the Marriott hotel will provide every enthusiast a unique and memorable event.
The 1933 Auburn Salon Speedster offered at Russo and Steele’s Monterey auction is serial number 1935 H, and is perhaps one of the most attractive, opulent and powerful examples of its type. 1935 H was inspected by the ACD and Certification completed in April of 1997. A copy of the certificate and ACD records are available upon request.
This Auburn 12-165 Salon Speedster’s known history begins with its first restoration to a very high standard in the 1980s. When the current vendor acquired it a decade later, the car remained an excellent tour-ready Twelve, yet had lost much of the gleam of a freshly-restored top-tier example. As a result of the owner’s dedication to this exceptional automobile, a painstaking cost-no-object re-restoration began during 2004 to recapture, if not exceed, the excellence of its original presentation. Finished in a contrasting two-tone maroon over a black leather interior with red piping and a matching cloth roadster top, the original Union City Speedster body has been completely preserved in all respects and its components and subsystems restored to better-than-new quality throughout. From the gloss on the V-12 under the long hood to the detailed chassis and two-speed rear axle underneath the sloping boat-tail rear end, neither were any mechanical elements nor smallest of details overlooked.

On completion, this Certified Original Category One Auburn Salon Speedster handily won Best in Show and the Ab Jenkins Award at the October, 2009 West Coast Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg meet in Santa Maria, California. Naturally, it remains in show-ready condition throughout and will stand the scrutiny of the most discriminating of fine automobile collectors the world over.
