A 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 CSX1001 Owned Legendary Mustang Designer and Race Car Driver Carroll Shelby is Offered at Russo and Steele’s 11th Annual Scottsdale Auction Event
1 of 12 examples of a 1970 CSX1000 series built, and the only one owned by Carroll Shelby himselfThe limited edition AC Cobra began assembly by AC in England with a hand formed aluminum body and then shipped to Shelby America. By the time AC ended production of the CSX1000 series Cobra, only 12 bodies had been completed. 11 of the 12 bodies were sold as rollers through the Shelby Dealer Network leaving the new owners to provide their own motors and drive trains. The CSX1001 was the only one completed as a Semi Competition Cobra for Carroll Shelby by Shelby America with the new all aluminum Shelby 427 Engine based on the original FE Engine Design. Carol Shelby was the original owner and title-holder of this 1965 Shelby AC Cobra. The new owner will receive the original title showing Carol Shelby as the first owner of CXS1000.
