Submitting Your Consignment Photos
Sending high quality photographs is very important to ensure maximum exposure of your automobile. Here are a few things that should aid you in the process:
Quick Tips:
1. Please clean your automobile. Please polish tires, and any other black molding, free car of all water spots and dust, vacuum the interior, and polish the engine. These are all areas that will need to be photographed.
2. Find a closed road or a concrete/dirt area. Cars look great in front of a grassy lawn, but not on top of one. Keep them in their element.
3. Background should be clear of garbage cans, other cars (if possible), weeds, and other items that can interfere with the shot.
4. Put the sun behind you (the photographer), this will get the best lighting for both the car and the camera. Shooting into the sun will result in dark images.
5. Shoot off center, we generally prefer the front ¾ shot to any other shot that is submitted, so make sure that you lower your body/tripod to an appropriate position and get a great angled shot.
Image Quality
1. We need high-resolution images (mainly done on a digital camera), the minimum being 1500 x 900pixels per image. The photo should be taken with the highest quality setting available on your camera, and using a tripod will aid you in getting the clearest photograph possible.
2. Images over 500kb are preferred and will give us the greatest viewing of your automobile.
3. Photos must be submitted by either .jpg or .tif these are the two most common files that your camera will produce. If it does not use either of these files, software will be necessary to format the images to .jpg or .tif.
4-6 Photos in Total:
1. Front ¾ shot, as mentioned is the most important, so make sure that you get a great shot using all the above mentioned steps.
2. Interior shot is one that can be tricky, you want to get as much of the seats/dash in the picture. Be sure to have the carpets clean, all metal/plastic polished, and seats tidy.
3. Engine Compartment should be cleaned and free of debris. Take a shot from both angles and pick which one shows the most features.
